Uncertain

Is there anything

that is inherently

beautiful

all by itself?

Or do all the

beautiful

things

wrap themselves

in

thorns

to guard

from being crushed

by overzealous ardor?

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

  1. A rose wraps itself in thorns to protect itself. An anemone sways in the ocean, but has stinging tentacles. So that’s true. Yet, there are countless examples of beauty without any thorns. A baby is a beautiful example.

              1. Haha I’m happy you got a laugh from it! Rob is a funny one for sure, he always makes me laugh ☺️ I think I prefer my burritos to stay within their little category and skip the chocolate on this one!

  2. Oh Larisa, your words have taken my mind on a journey here. Beauty (almost) always has a counterpoint, no? Perhaps thorns make the beautiful thing more beautiful.

Your words are most certainly, beautiful β™₯️

          1. We are well, thanks! Hope you and yours are too?
And it’s my privilege…I’m sorry that I haven’t even posted anything ha. We have been so busy with ministry stuff right now, blogging has gone mostly out of my mind. But I do feel the need to get on here again, and touch base with you lovely people πŸ™‚

            1. My family is doing good, thank God. But these are uncertain times we are living in and I am taking things moment by moment and trusting that God will see us through. I am happy to hear you are doing wellβ€”this is definitely a time for all of us to come together through ministering to one another.

    1. Wow I am so flattered by this comment! Saying β€œthank you” seems trite, but what else can I possibly say? Seriously, thank you from the bottom of my heart! I hope you are hanging in there during these times and that you and your family are all safe and cared for.

My family and I, are hanging in there. Trying to keep ourselves distracted. And I’m constantly writing new material and listening to music, and watching lots of movies. Keep the mind sane is key. Hope you are safe on your end. How is it where your at? is it crazy?

        1. I am near Seattle and everything has been shut down here for a while already. I feel like I’m a connoisseur of Zoom meetings by now. Since we received word that we are all going to be shut down for the rest of April pretty much, I decided I’m going to skip town and spend this month in the countryside several hours away from the city where it won’t really feel like I’m under house arrest. Im glad to hear that you are able to be creative during this time and that your family is safe.

          1. Please be careful and safe. I think anywhere you go its going to have a shutdown. I hope the countryside allows some freedom. Then again depending on how many military or cops are around to let others be inside. You know? It’s getting crazy. Try and stay creative and busy as possible. Meditation helps, reading, or watching movies. πŸ™‚

            1. Even with this quarantine, I’ve been so weirdly busy that I feel like I haven’t really had the time to shut my mind down and simply watch a movie. I’m about to settle in and watch some documentaries. Maybe a good movie, I’ll see what I’m more on the mood for.
