Happy New Year 🥳

Happy New Year, friends! I am spending it soaking away my cold in my bathtub with sea salts, wine, and chocolate. ..milk chocolate. Because my palate never matured beyond juvenile when it comes to chocolate 🤷🏻‍♀️

Anyway, I hope everyone’s New Year is everything they need it to be this year.

Xoxo

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

    1. Haha! I’ll stand by that 😌 In fact, I just drank some wine to that!

Thank you! I haven’t been sick with a cold in several years, but I did stop drinking all my superfood powders this year, so I suspected I’d fall prey to some nasty bug at some point. It’s my impetus to go back to being super healthy. Hope yours is wonderful, C. D.!

    1. Omg 🤣 do you actually understand Russian?! This made me laugh!

It ended up in my spam for some reason, but I heroically galloped in there and rescued this beaut!

Лучших пожеланий в новом году! 🥂😊

    1. Thank you Rachel! Sometimes I feel like New Years celebrations are an afterthought at the tail end of the busiest holidays, so I don’t always go out to celebrate. Thanksgiving and Christmas were incredibly busy and joyous for me and I had to travel back home both times, so by the time New Year came around, I was like, “meh, I can take it or leave it.” I hope you enjoyed yourself no matter what you were doing and I am sending those beautiful wishes right back atcha!

    1. Thank you Gabriela! The WordPress gremlins have been naughty with people leaving comments on this blog post, I keep finding comments in my spam! But they’re such a lovely treat to find 😊

I pray all your wishes come true in this new year and into the ones that come after, as well. Xo

    1. Hi Ken! I sincerely wish that this new year brings with it health, hearts desires, and joy for you!

p.s. When I typed “hi Ken,” the “I’m a Barbie girl” song instantly roared to life in my head 😅

            1. I grew up without a tv and now I can’t really get into it all that much. Sometimes I’ll get hooked on a show and actually watch the series. But that’s pretty few and far between, to be honest. But I think I am ready to start something new. I’ve been meaning to check out Game of Thrones since last year, but never got around to it. Maybe I will today. This evening, in fact.

              1. I think writer’s may be better off without TV, Larisa.
                It’s a terrible time-suck.
Some people waste every spare moment hypnotised in front of it.
Glad I stopped watching years ago.
(But I’m still not free: because You Tube is almost as addictive (LOL!).)

                1. Haha I do listen to a lot of podcasts on YouTube, I will admit. Lately, I’ve been watching documentaries on it too, or watching informative videos about space/stars/solar systems. But those are actually informative, and to me, it’s a different form of absorbing knowledge so I don’t feel like I’m wasting my mind.

    1. Thank your Simon, I wish the same for you as well! Believe it or not, I’m still coughing 😦 It’s as if this cold was particularly brutal to make up for the past several years that I had not been sick with colds at all.
