Flower Gardens

“Please don’t ask me how I’m doing,
I’m feeling fragile
and need
a little
space.”

That’s okay, I will mind my own garden
today.

But please remember that I’m
just on the other side
of this broken
fence,

And when you’re ready, I will
be there to admire the
flowers growing in
yours.

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

      1. Perfect! Nothing like a fresh shower to rinse off yesterdays ugliness and regrets. Not to mention going out and play a bit of hop-scotch in, yes- boys know how to do that too but we just pretend we don’t until moments like this one. Not to mention God used Moses to part the sea so I think when he’s deemed we laugh enough in the storm he could handle parting a few teary clouds and usher in sunshine and rainbows but in full disclosure I must warn you, I know nothing about unicorns.

    1. Thank you. It was inspired by a conversation I had yesterday with someone who said those exact words to me about needing space, and without thinking about it, that is how I responded (minding my own garden.) And then the rest of the stuff just kinda came after.

                1. Sigh, mine have all been spaced close together. Clusters of mistakes and mishaps both big and small 😏 But what you said reminded me of how it feels to try to get over someone, and you think you have it, but then all the feelings rush back on a colossal tidal wave as soon as they sweep into the room. Hmm..I might have to write about that 😉

  1. Flowers have a lot of beauty
we love to see them in gardens
for that kind of beauty sometimes
we find ourselves to be starving
we love flowers and their smell
    because some of that beauty
when we get to enjoy by staring,
that beauty in us they are carving.

    1. Yes, Lee, I agree. Flowers do have a lot of beauty, but oddly enough, we give flowers for both good and bad events—valentines and funerals. There is a lot in life that is like that, you have to learn to take the good with the bad. Thank you for your thoughtful comment.
