Addicted

You found me when I was broken,
sharp protruding bits and
serrated edges.
Running your fingers down my
soul,
you watched, mesmerized,
as the blood pooled in the crevices
of your skin.
Attracted to the danger, you soon
became addicted
to the pain.
You loved the way the light
refracted against the
shattered glass of
my heart,
and so you endeavored
to break it again
and again.

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

    1. Are you sure you didn’t intend that pun? It is just so fitting 😉 Rob, sometimes 2 people can be in a relationship and be so toxic for each other that they start to hate each other just as much as they love each other. And love mixed with hate, I have found, can often be more potent than just love alone, or just hate on its own.

        1. No it’s not. What ends up happening is you break up ten times and get back together ten times, and it’s all so very dramatic and passionate and full of angst. Until one day someone is worn out enough to simply not have it in them to repeat it another round.

                1. So many ways to answer that question. Does it count as recent if it was my last relationship? Or is it no longer recent if I feel that I’ve moved on significantly and am able to think of him with no feelings attached?

    1. Sometimes I don’t know if we are blessed or cursed to experience both the horrors of reality and the loveliness that life can also bring. If I didn’t experience everything I did, I feel that I wouldn’t be able to understand people very well, or even be able to draw upon experiences for inspiration to write. Your concern is appreciated, though ♥️

      1. You’re incredibly brave to express something that resonates with so many people – often we don’t feel comfortable talking about toxic relationships, so the more we address them through poetry and verse, the better we can fix them. ❤

        1. The good thing about hitting rock bottom is that you really don’t have anything to lose. After you start making your way back from that place, you realize that things don’t have the power over you that they used to.
