Arrested, you stand still as a familiar feeling grips you.
A well-known scent, the flirtatious laughter of a passing couple,
and you find yourself drifting slowly into her memory.
Like gliding into your favorite pool of water on a hot summer night,
the sky a black velvet blanket with diamonds strewn haphazardly across.
Whispers of lovers drift past your ears as her laughing green eyes tease you with their depths.
The love in her burning brighter on those nights than all the stars combined.

Hello and welcome to my page~ My name is Larisa--a very common Slavic name that was either derived from the Latin word hilaris, meaning "cheerful," or from the Greek city of Larissa, meaning "strong fortress." Born in Ukraine, I emigrated with my family to America when I was still a small child and now make my home in the beautiful Pacific Northwest. Growing up immersed in two vastly differing cultures led me to have a burning curiosity about people all over the world. Stemming from said curiosity, I have fallen in love with traveling to other countries, meeting new people and delving into their culture, exploring new cities, and of course, dining on the local cuisine! If I cannot escape into a different country, then my next favorite method of adventure is to lose myself in a spectacular book. I enjoy books of all genres--from fiction and novels, to biographies and ethnographies. As long as it captures my fancy and holds me spellbound the entire time, I will burn through the book like a forest fire! Because of this penchant for reading and travel, coupled with my love of deep and mysterious things, I have been often called a dreamer and I find the title suits me. With that being said, I invite you to stay a while, perhaps make yourself a cup of tea and linger through my posts and feel free to comment or share a thought :-)

  1. Memories have a twisted way or getting us looped in. It’s such that our surroundings no longer seem normal but deep to us and reminds us of certain people we wish to be with.

  2. “Sometimes I feel that we are more in love with the memories and how they make us feel than we are with the actual people in them.” This is very true. We fall in love with the best memories of those people, without regard to why we’re no longer with them.

    1. I just commented on someone post that I tend to color all my memories with a sense of nostalgia and wistfulness. And how we are making memories at every given moment of the day, we just donโ€™t know it. Itโ€™s that emotion we are addicted to, and too often we confuse it with loving or not loving the people those memories revolve around. I hope that makes sense!

      1. It makes perfect sense! I think, as writers, memories give us a rich palette from which to draw from. It’s so personal and powerful that it translates well to the written or musical word.
